Cat 5, 5e, and 6 cables have a maximum cable segment run length of 100m.
The maximum distance of the different versions of the cable is 100 meters.
The old-fashioned Cat 5 cable isn’t a recognized standard anymore, but it still supports gigabit speeds. Cat 5e cable has been enhanced to deliver faster speeds.
At a length up to 100m, the Cat 5 speed is capable of 10/100 Mbps and 100MHz.
The maximum distance for a single run of cable is 100 meters. The manufacturers recommend that you don’t exceed a length of 100 meters for a single run of cable because the point at which network connection drops completely will vary from cable to cable.
Cat6 is capable of reaching speeds up to 10 gigabytes and Cat5 is capable of reaching speeds up to 100 gigabytes. They are compatible with Cat5e cables.
At a length up to 100m, the Cat 5 speed is capable of 10/100 Mbps and 100MHz. The Cat 5 performance is set by TIA/EIA which are engineering standards set by a group of individuals to give manufacturers and businesses clear expectations on cable performance.
If you can’t add an active component, you will need to use fiber optical cable. The distance limitation can be up to 10 kilometers depending on the fiber you use. If you use a fiber media conversion, you can integrate the cable into the network.
It was introduced in 1991. The life of cable categories has been maximized by the advancement in technology. The creation of 1000Base-T allows you to run gigabit speeds using four pairs of Cat 5 cable.
The cable has a number of advantages, but it also has limitations. The amount of data being sent to and from the cable is the main disadvantage. The cable is limited in terms of data transfer.
