There are five different types of digital image files.
TIFF is a type of file that ends in.tif. JPEG is a file type ending in.jpg. The file types end in.gif. The file types end in.png. /li>li>Raw image files.
Digital file types describe the types and characteristics of the files produced from the digitization of original record materials at NARA, as well as the standard or most common data formats that the Digitization Services Branch uses.
There are many image file extensions.

PDF, an open, standardized, broadly- capable digital document technology, has proven equal to the transition from paper to electronic. PDF has a proven framework for future development of digital documents.
Adobe created the PDF in 1992 to be able to present documents independent of the software, hardware, or operating systems used.
