Data spillage is the transfer of classified or sensitive information. There are unauthorized systems, individuals, applications and media. A lower level spillage can be from a higher level spillage. The data may be hidden.
The transfer of information to a system which is not authorized to handle it is one of the two categories of data spills. There is unauthorized disclosure of information on the internet, including via web forums, social media and other types of cloud-based storage.
