The South by Southwest Interactive conference was the tipping point for the popularity of micro-messaging. During the event, there was an increase in the use of the social network.

When it was just starting out, it wasn’t even called a social network. The site was originally named ‘twttr’ because it was inspired by photo-sharing platform Flickr. This can still be seen in Jack’s first ever message.
The name and branding for the 2006 launch were updated. Linda was given just one day to come up with a new logo for the new social networking site. The branding was the same until September 14, 2010 when Glass stopped liking it.
