As if they were in a single broadcast domain, different computers and devices can be connected virtually to each other through a VLAN. VLANs can help reduce IT cost, improve network security, and provide easier management.
The VTP domain name is set with the vtp domain name. The domain-name can be up to 32 characters. The password is set with the vtp password.
There is a logical broadcast domain that can be used for multiple physical segments. An independent broadcast domain can be created for stations based on functions, project teams or applications without regard to the users physical location.
A number of advantages, such as ease of administration, confinement of broadcast domains, reduced broadcast traffic, and enforcement of security policies, are provided by VLANs.
Network administrators can limit access to a group of users by dividing their workstations into different isolated areas. Administrators don’t need to change groups when users move their workstations.
